Passports and Visas

Passports

All Irish nationals require a valid passport for all holidays with Wendy Wu Tours and this should be valid for at least six months after the date of your scheduled return home. You will also need at least two blank pages in your passport.  If you are not an Irish national, other regulations may apply to you and you should check with the nearest embassy of the country you intend to visit.

When do I apply for my visa?

We will need your passport and visa application forms approximately 6-8 weeks prior to your departure date. We cannot apply for your visa at any time due to the fact once a visa issued, there will be a validity period issued on the visa.

For China, as our partners Visa First in Dublin arrange the visas for you, their turnaround time is approximately 10 working days.

For other countries where we require your passport, we would normally expect to keep your passport for a maximum of 4 weeks to allow for the visa application process. If you need your passport back earlier, then please let us know, and we can arrange an ‘express’ visa service at an additional charge of €60 per person which will turn your passport around up to 2 weeks.

Do I need a visa?

Unlike many other tour operators, we include any required visas in the price of our tour for Irish passport holders. The visa process varies dependent on which country you are due to visit; further details can be found below. For further detailed information, please view the required helpsheet at the bottom of this page.

China

Yes, a visa is required for Irish passport holders. As you can only apply for the Chinese visa in your country of residence, our partners in Ireland handle the entire visa process, all you need to do is fill out the form and send your passport to Visa First and they will process your visa at the Chinese embassy in Dublin.

Vietnam

Yes, a visa is required for Irish passport holders. As there is no embassy in Ireland, Wendy Wu Tours Head Office in London will handle the entire visa process. The Vietnam application form is to be completed online, printed out and then posted to us with your passport. We will then get the visa processed and post your passports back to you.

India

Yes, a visa is required for Irish passport holders. As the Indian visa is an electronic visa, you do no not need to send us your actual passport. All we require you to do is to complete the application form and send it to us with a clear colour photocopy of your passport photo page as well as a photograph. We will then email/post you the visa once completed.

Cambodia

Yes, a visa is required for Irish passport holders. If you are travelling to Cambodia only, then you do not need to send us your actual passport. As we apply for your Cambodia E-Visa online, all we need is the completed visa form, photograph and a clear coloured copy of the main photo page in your passport will be suffice. If you are travelling to another country that requires a visa as well as Cambodia, we may need your actual passports. For more information, please see the helpsheet below.

Burma

Yes, a visa is required for Irish passport holders. As there is no embassy in Ireland, Wendy Wu Tours Head Office in London will handle the entire visa process. The Burma application form is a handwritten form and is to be sent to us with your passport and photograph. Two application forms and two photographs are required per person. We will then get the visa processed and post your passports back to you.

Laos

As there isn’t an embassy in Ireland or the UK that issues Laos visas, a visa is to be obtained on arrival. The cost of the visa is approximately US$35-40 per person and one passport sized photo is required.

Japan

A visa is not required for Irish passport holders.

Hong Kong

A visa is not required for Irish passport holders.

Delivery Method

If your visa requires you to send your passport via post then we would recommend to send them using the Express Post service or by courier.

Depending on what visa you are applying for, if it required you to send your passports and applications to our London office then we will always send this back by Royal Mail International Tracked. If you would prefer us to send this via courier, then this can be arranged at an extra cost.
