Towering over the city, the Tokyo Skytree is Japan’s, and the world’s, tallest tower. Standing at 634 metres, it dominates the skyline, a fusion of neofuturistic and traditional Japanese in style, built for the better transmission of television and radio broadcast after the Tokyo Tower was overtaken by skyscrapers. Painted in its own original colour ‘Skytree White’, at night it is beautifully illuminated in two different patterns which alternate daily.

Ascending the Skytree brings incredible panoramas from the two observation decks, one at 350 metres and one at 450 metres. At 350 metres you can step out onto a glass floor and look directly down to the city streets below, while at 450 metres, glass walls give the illusion of floating in mid-air. While 360-degree views of the city are a given, on a particularly clear day you may be lucky enough to spot Mount Fuji 144 kilometres away. At the foot of the Skytree you’ll find the Tokyo Solamachi Mall, the perfect place to shop for all sorts of tower shaped souvenirs!
